When Maggie Hodgman was a little girl, she used to watch her school's productions and hope that one day it would be her on stage.

Now, it's her turn to inspire others as Cinderella in St Patrick's College production.

"I remember watching all the productions and wanting the lead girl to be me - I think I want to make the most of that," she said.

In a first for Tasmania, 150 students from St Patrick's College are in the final stages of rehearsing before opening the curtains to Midnights - The Cinderella Musical.

The premiere is a bold and modern reimagining of Cinderella featuring original music by John Foreman and ARIA award-winner Kate Miller-Heidk.

The production will run from April 30 to May 2 at the Princess Theatre.

Workers' Memorial Park official opening

April 28

Coinciding with International Workers' Memorial Day on April 28 is the official opening of the Workers' Memorial Park at Elizabeth Gardens in Invermay, Launceston.

This project is the result of long-term campaigning by Guy Hudson, who lost his son to a workplace accident 20 years ago, along with Unions Tasmania.

The commemorative park will operate as a space of reflection and commemoration for the families whose loved ones died at work, and will also serve as a permanent reminder to the community of what can happen when safety is not front of mind.

The opening will kick off at 8am at Elizabeth Gardens, Invermay.

Here and There - Kim Lehman

Until May 17

Kim Lehman is a Launceston visual artist, writer, curator, and scholar.

With some controversy, he was the first video artist to be selected as a finalist in the Glover Prize for landscape painting (2015).

As an artist, he works primarily in photomontage and video and has been a finalist in a number of Tasmanian and national art prizes.

His newest exhibition will be held at Blenheim Gallery and Garden.

In a departure, this show includes new work that ventures past my own memories, work that is more focussed on 'staying home', and exploring the new world Tasmanian physical and cultural landscape.
