Building Better Care for Long COVID-19
Caring for long COVID-19 is a new frontier in medicine, and we’re dedicated to advancing our understanding of this condition and developing a multidisciplinary approach to long COVID-19 treatment.
The first of its kind in our hospital network, the AdventHealth Post-COVID-19 Clinic (PCC) offers long COVID-19 treatment for patients with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 and coronavirus symptoms lasting 12 weeks or more. The PCC is led by Dwayne Gordon, MD, with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians in primary care, behavioral health and physical therapy.
For each patient, our clinicians collaborate to determine whether a COVID-19 infection caused a new condition or exacerbated a pre-existing one. After this initial evaluation, patients may be prescribed an initial 60-day plan, including referrals to subspecialty care, with a scheduled follow-up to assess their progress and further support their recovery.

What You Need to Know About Our Post-COVID-19 Clinic

- Who’s eligible to receive care at the clinic?

To qualify for care at our clinic, a patient must have a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis and coronavirus symptoms that have lasted for at least three months.
- Are there any services not provided by the clinic?

Outside providers must provide disability forms, assist with FMLA-related requests and provide refills on controlled substances.
- How long is the initial evaluation and what is involved?

The patient evaluation process at our clinic is conducted in two phases: an intake telephone call with a registered nurse, followed by a 90-minute in-person evaluation with Dr. Dwayne Gordon, an internal medicine physician.
For each candidate, the in-person process evaluates:
- Medical history with co-morbidities
- COVID-19 history and experience, including the date of their positive test, symptoms (both previous and existing) and vaccination history
- Complete physical therapy evaluation
- GAD-7 screening for anxiety
- PHQ-9 screening for depression
During the initial consultation, our clinicians from primary care, behavioral health and physical therapy collaborate to determine whether a COVID-19 infection caused a new condition or exacerbated a pre-existing condition.
- Where is the clinic located and what are the operating hours?

The clinic operates inside AdventHealth Medical Group Internal Medicine, which is located at 2501 North Orange Avenue, Suite 235, Orlando, FL 32804.
Our clinic is currently open on Wednesdays from 8 am to 5 pm and Thursdays from 8 am to 12 pm.
- As a physician, how do I refer my patients to the clinic?

For physicians with medical staff privileges at AdventHealth, this ambulatory referral is currently available in Epic as “AMB REFERRAL TO COVID-19 EVALUATION.”
For physicians at AdventHealth locations not yet on Epic (or all other physicians) and have patients that may be a candidate for the PCC, please see the section at the bottom of this page to complete a patient referral form. Alternatively, you can email the patient’s name and contact information, as well as your name and contact information, to [emailprotected]. The PCC will follow up with you to determine if the patient is qualified.
