So, I tried the orange glyph challenge for the first time today, and does anyone else notice the visual effect is almost exactly like a migraine aura? for us migraine sufferers some will get visual disturbances prior to the onset of migraine pain and losing the periphery of your vision is a common one. The visual resemblance is almost enough to create phantom pain and trigger a migraine-like aura in the viewer. I'm not sure what bhvr was thinking with this one... all i know is Ill not be able to ever complete these challenges because just looking at the screen starts to trigger a headache.

I swear I had a migraine from the noise itself, not the visual effect. My brain needed some rest after that.

I made a thread about this a few days ago and it got marked as read by BHVR, which means it's been flagged for the devs to look at - so hopefully they're already aware of this issue and plan to rectify it before the next levels of the tome come out. Apparently it's supposed to get worse. 🤢

I didn't suffer nearly as badly with it, and I'm thankful for that, but I still found the glyph viscerally unpleasant. It was not a good design for a challenge - any difficulty comes purely from the user's inability to handle the interface. The visuals weren't that bad for me, but the noise was driving me insane and I just wanted that match to end from the moment I started it. The thought that you might have to put up with that several times to get 6 hooks is horrendous.

Yes, I saw a video of it and it's visuals gave me a major headache and I also felt a bit nauseous as well. This is a challenge that I'm flat out going to refuse to do until/if it gets fixed. I really hope this gets changed.

For me it was the sound, it actually gave me a migraine so I had to quit afterwards. The high pitched metal-on-metal sound is awful.

I'd be curious to know who at BHVR signed off on this horrendous idea.

Honestly this one is pretty easy challenge - it did not really bother me, but at the same time I understand that someone with this particular health issue might have a problem - the solution is... not to take this particular challenge if this bother you. Seriously I don't think that entire community should be affected by someone else's problem especially if it does not prevent you from enjoying the game overall.

I myself have a type 1 diabetes and never experienced any kind of feature for handicapped players and I think it's fair. My condition is my problem, period.

If devs start to consider migraine, diabetes, chronic pains and other disabilities they will have problems with adding any features to the game just because someone might feel unwell. If you can't play the game due to health issues, just find something suitable for you. That's how it works!

You don't have to do the challenge in order to progress to the next page. Just skip it and take another route.

The problem with that is, that some of these glyph challenges can be tests for future perks. I think the skillchecks we get with sadakos perk merciless storm are the same or very similar to one survivor glyph challenge, the yellow one. It is good people are saying they are having massive problems with glyphs, because then these effects can be worked on.

That said I also was uncomfortable while the effect of the orange glyph lasted. I had to focus really hard and blank out the noise to get something done.

Hi, we have seen some issues surrounding the Orange Glyph and it's something we're looking at addressing as we're aware of the effects that some players have been experiencing. I don't have an ETA on anything yet, but we will let you know.

Very glad to hear it. If the idea is to debuff the killer and get X hooks out of the match, some stuff you could potentially look at in lieu of the interface skew could be a slight speed penalty, longer cooldowns/shorter duration on powers, longer kick times, slower gen regression speed, or maybe aura blindness for x seconds after each hook.

As a health care worker, I am quite familiar with diabetes and the struggles that go along with it. However, I'm uncertain as to how that would require a feature to help you enjoy the game to its fullest extent. Diabetes does not hinder the ability to play a game, hold a job, or be a functioning member of society. What feature would you like game developers to add to help you have the same level of enjoyment as the rest of the community?

I Posted this originally because I wanted to see if others were having the same issue as myself, where just putting a challenge on was triggering a massive attack of pain and nausea and if I played it a second time, would sideline me for a day or more. Its directly affecting the health of the players and if the people at bhvr didn't know it, they need to be made aware. Just as they've added a color blind mode, its common for developers to make changes when its hindering a large portion of people from enjoying the game. Also, consider epilepsy warnings on games, or shows/games removing sections that trigger epileptic attacks in sufferers. I don't have epilepsy and I've never had a seizure, but I'm fine with not having a strobe light effect in dbd because it would stop people from being able to play at all.

The devs should consider things like migraine, epilepsy, and other things that trigger serious conditions when making a game they hope is widespread and stays alive. a quick google search shows that 39 million Americans at least suffer from migraines with around 112 million bedridden days a year. It's debilitating and can actually be a diagnosis for medical disability in this country. its not an inconvenience, its not a boo boo or a gee, my head kind of hurts, Migraines can cause hospitalization and extreme suffering.

I did not click on that challenge thinking it was going to trigger a migraine. I played for less than ten minutes and had to turn the game off after pretty much just letting the survivors escape because It was causing a physical response. Asking the Devs to consider a widely problematic condition in every country their game is popular in is not ruining the fun for everyone else. I'm not saying "boo hoo, pity me, you cant debuff killer, mean devs, survivor op." It's bringing to their attention that this is negatively affecting what appears to be a significant amount of the player base. We are asking the rework it because it's causing health issues.

To put it in terms you are more likely to understand, Consider you went to a restaurant and you asked for a diet co*ke because a regular will really skew your blood sugars and put you at risk of going to the hospital. That would require the staff to change out the syrup in the back, and as a person whos worked with those before, they are heavy and a pain in the butt. They tell you, just don't drink anything then, because its inconveniencing us, and your diabetes is your issue, not ours. Drink water if you dont like it. or, in the unfortunate case of what happened here with the orange glyph challenge, they just hand you a glass of regular full sugar co*ke with no warning and your blood sugars spike tremendously, and now you get to go to the hospital for an insulin drip. Would you have drank that co*ke if you had known? probably not. I wouldn't have clicked on the orange glyph challenge if I had known, but there is no warning nor indication it is about to trap you in a visual hellscape that will trigger an incredibly painful condition.

And for the record, I've been in extreme physical pain several times in my life. I hit a tree going about 55 miles an hour after hitting a patch of black ice, I've been thrown from a horse several times and hit the ground HARD. I've near fractured my ankle and had to hobble around on it for hours at work, had second-degree burns, and none of it compares to the pain I've dealt with when I've had bad migraines. I'd rather break a bone than have a migraine. Its the worst agony i've experienced.

To put it bluntly, it IS the devs job to review features that have negative and unintended consequences for their player base. They need to consider features they add and the consequences of the player base because if they just tell players to go "find something that's suitable" they will not make any money and no one will have a game. it IS their job to take into account the severe health issues that their target player base might suffer and to accommodate when reasonable. Putting in a color blind mode is a prime example. You can still enjoy the game without it, but some people struggle. sure they could just go play something else, or they could put in a damn color blind mode and help out that population. If a huge portion of the population is complaining that this challenge is causing physical distress, it IS the devs job to look into it. If there is some sort of feature that you cannot reasonably enjoy or take part in because you are diabetic, they should look into it because diabetes is a common issue. However, you dont need a "handicapped feature" because your condition does not in anyway shape or form that I can think of prevent you from enjoying the game. And asking them to rework the orange glyph does not take away the fun of the rest of the community. Taking into account the needs of those that are consuming your product and PAYING YOU MONEY TO KEEP YOUR GAME GOING, is the job of the devs. Thats just how it works!
