Cindric explained the team's strategy and the mechanical issue that ultimately sidelined him. "We went through the first pit stop cycle, and honestly, it didn't play out how we hoped. We really focused on grabbing those valuable stage points – that was our main objective," Cindric stated. "Then, it became a race against the clock to see if we could repair the damage enough to get back on the track. Unfortunately, we discovered a steering rack problem, which made the car undrivable."
He sounded optimistic about his chances before the wreck: "I don't see any reason why we couldn't have contended for the win. Our Discount Tire Ford Mustang was seriously fast, and I felt we were in a good position after that first pit stop. Maybe we just needed a few more cars around us to make it work." "We nailed that pit stop, and we were running right up there with Joey Logano. He was holding second in the bottom lane, and I was just trying to control our lane from the lead. The No. 43 car was pushing extremely hard. You typically see that kind of aggressive pushing later in the race, in the third stage, but he was going all-out early. It’s a shame what happened."
Gragson continued, "The back straightaway at Talladega is notoriously bumpy, and I got pushed in a really rough spot. The car started 'wheelbarrowing' down the backstretch before he made contact." And this is the part most people miss: the track conditions played a crucial role in the severity of the crash!
When asked about his disappointment, Gragson replied, "Yeah, it's just unfortunate. We still have two more races to finish the season strong, and we definitely showed some serious speed out there." He then elaborated further on the aggressive push he received. "I was just trying to stay even with the No. 16 car. There were a couple of times where we both got clear of him. He was pushing incredibly hard in the corners, in places where you don't usually see that kind of aggression in the first stage – through the tri-oval and the corners. It felt a little too aggressive that early in the race, especially with nine laps still to go in the stage. It was definitely a bummer." But here's where it gets controversial...
